Firstly, if you control the mailing list, entering other people's
names into it is classic spamming.

Properly set up mailing lists don't allow email addresses to be added
without confirmation. For example, one can't add someone else's email
address into any of the autox.team.net mailing lists.

Secondly, "opt-out" -- ie lists on which you get into without any
action and you have to take action to remove yourself is another
classic sign of spamming.

The proper advice for years now has been to never opt-out of a
spammer's list because:
1. You probably won't be removed
2. You just made your email address more valuable to the spammer, so
he may sell it to other spammers.

I am not claiming that you would do the above, but if you behave like
a spammer, you must expect people to treat you like a spammer.
