My interest is triggered by the fact that I have been compelled to go to a top rated hotel in Cuba, eat gourmet food, swallow as much booze as I want, and no doubt will be expected to smoke cigars. Regretfully there is no way I can get out of it. So what happened ? At the risk of stating the obvious, the recession will always hit "luxury" items first, and leave them last. Has it been slowing down gradually, or did it go over a cliff overnight? He's looking in the free to cheap range. It doesn't have to usable as an engine but he would like the exterior to be intact. We're in Columbus Ohio area but he travels a lot so nothing is out of the question. Anybody have anything lying around that might fit the bill? But, as usual, Brit threads are different and it will not fit. The gear shift thread is 5/16 with 22 pitch, the knob is slightly larger than 5/16 with bigger thread. There are some inserts one can get but I am damned if I can remember the name and what they do. Can someone help here please? - Thanks in advance for responses. I tried plumbers tape and that was hopeless. You just need to find a thread tap in that size, or someone with a lathe that can take a bolt that fits in your shift knob, and drill and thread the inside 5/16-22.
