<div>Hi Friends,</div><div><br></div><div>I wimped out and bought a new electronic SU fuel pump for my TD. When I added up all the parts necessary for a FULL rebuild of the original pump, to trouble-free status, the cost difference was not worth the effort, AND I still have my original pump. The new SU pump also has all of the as-original stickers. Its due to arrive Monday.</div><div><br></div><div>Those who care might remember that my car's fuel tank has been cleaned and reinforced with a Moss liquid bladder kit. The outside of the tank, at the lower metal seams, is being painted with POR15. This is not the original tank, nor is it SS or galvanized. I just hope to minimize rust.</div><div><br></div><div>I installed a new fuel line a few weeks ago. It is generic 5/16" copper. I used short bits of the old line, carefully cleaned, at the tank and pump ends, so as to preserve the correct mating connectors. They are connected to the new line with new alcohol safe rubber hose and FI rated hose clamps. A disposable fuel filter will be fitted ahead of the new pump. Plumbing from the pump to and between the carbs, was old and damaged so new Moss lines were purchased. And as I wrote earlier, the SU carbs are nicely rebuilt. Can't wait to get the old guy started again.</div><div><br></div><div>Nice to be back pulling spanners on this car again. The only drawback of owning eight collector cars - other than storage, insurance, batteries, aging fuel, etc - is that I don't usually get to work on any one car at length. Retirement is SO busy! I also try to never forget just how fortunate I am to have this wonderful hobby.
