[Mg-t] Gearbox 'remote control'

The 3rd-4th shift rod is longer, than earlier models.
Shift the transmission into 4th. That moves the rod forward, and places the
shift pin at the rear of its travel.

What's up with that? Is it that the ball-end of the selector is stuck in a
receptor requiring a little 'pull' to free it, or is there a paragraph missing
from the manual, or am I just doing something wrong? Expiring minds want to
