Bob, you might look into using strings of LEDs instead of the ineffective
original setup.

Subject: [Mg-t] Dash Lights on the TD
After 40 years of driving my TD, I finally decided to fix my non-existent dash
lights. I've been doing some night time driving lately, and it's no fun having
a completely dark cockpit out on the highway. For some reason the P.O. decided
to tear out all the dash lights and the wiring, and I don't have a clue where
or how the gauges are lit up. I see no holes in the back of the gauges for
light bulbs. Where do the light bulbs/sockets go? Is there an illustration
somewhere showing the back of the dash with the lights? The Moss catalog shows
the sockets, but not how they attach or where they go.
