Bill,
Moss has just re-issued their rear crank seal conversion in a revised
form (under p/n 433-419) with some added parts and more comprehensive
instructions. I believe this is now the only way to fix a leak at the
back of the engine (and the new variant on their kit virtually
guarantees success when installed per the instructions).
It is necessary to remove the engine to install the rear seal
conversion. Removal of the gearbox isn't necessary when pulling the
engine out though some people do find that to be easier - especially the
reassembly part of the job.
