[Mg-t] Charging voltage

I had a bad transistorized regulator/control box on my TD and replaced it with
a spare repro of a Lucas box (from one of the usual suspects). I also have a
little plug-in volt meter and used it to see what the regulator was doing. I
was surprised to see that at speed my charging voltage was always between 14
and 16 volts. Am I cooking my expensive gel battery?
