The car has been restored but probably has not been run in close to10 years. Ive notice some parts are missing and thought I would ask list members if they might have or know where these parts could be located. The parts needed are: 1. Shock link for an Andrex shock absorber. These shocks are unique to the Mark II TD. The link is approximately 5 inches long when measured from the center of mounting stud holes. The length of the link is adjustable with threaded ends. 2. A complete oil bath air cleaner assembly including the air intake manifold. Apparently this assembly is unique to the Mark II series. Please send responses to me off-list. I once visited his huge wooden barn of a facility and it was LOADED with old MG parts, mostly used T series items. It was located somewhere near the Santa Clara County fairgrounds if I recall. Probably been torn down and redeveloped into some high tech dot com type business by now. I believe Mike's driver was a tired but functioning blue TC. First of all, I would like to thank the many respondents for their help. Through the suggestions received I was able to locate an Andrex shock link (thanks to a referral by Bobbie at Abingdon Spares and the efforts of Lazar at Apple Hydraulics). I also found out that an original air cleaner assembly for a Mark II is made of a rare metal called unobtainium. My latest questions are: A. I understand the Mark II rear bumper has 2 reflectors and a center plinth with the Mark II designation. 1. Is the plinth available and if so what is the source? (Im guessing this is also made of unobtainium). 2. The reflectors appear to be available from Moss Motors. Could someone provide location center points for mounting the reflectors? B. Since the air cleaner assembly is not available the next best alternative is the use of pancake air cleaners. 1. Who makes a pancake air cleaner that will fit the Mark II application and if so where are they available? 2. Also what is the maximum thickness that can be used or fits? As an update: The gas thank sending unit float is now working and installed right side up, and the unit does not leak. Gas lines have been cleaned out. Got the car running for the first time in the approximately 9 years since the museum purchased the car. And got the wiring sorted out so the turn signal, low fuel and high beam lights work on the dash. Many more items to do but were making progress. And for all of us MG nuts; while the museums (Kemp Auto Museum) major attractions are old and expensive Mercedes, one of the favorite attractions for visitors (especially the females) is the MG TD Mark II. The museum website is http://www.kempautomuseum.org/ . Charged the battery overnight and then started her up (first try) but the dynamo warning light stayed on and there was no movement in the ammeter on revving the engine. Pulled both wires and shorted them, then put my VTVM across the terminals to a ground on the body and only got from 2 to 5 volts at about 1000 rpm. The dynamo was new last season (refurbished) as I lost the bearing on the old one when the bracket broke. Fan belt tension is correct, brushes are in order, I cleaned the commutator with paint thinner and put it all back. Didn't have time to retest the output but the light went out and the ammeter registered. About half way through the tour the light came back on and stayed on and no ammeter action. It seems unlikely that one of the coils would go bad from sitting 3 or 4 months. I think I remember seeing a technique to spark across the terminals to charge the coil, or something like that. Otherwise I guess I'm committed to taking the thing apart or sending it out for repair. Ideas? Andy Moyce 52 TD.
