Dan,

I have a 1946 Ford Sedan Delivery which was originally painted maroon from the
Ford Factory. It was purchased by the Wendover City Police in 1946 and painted
black on the bottom half & white on the top half.

When they started running at Bonneville, the city police would pick up parts
at the bus terminal and deliver them to the Salt Flats. The Ford was used
repeatedly to test the salt and timing lights in the beginning to 1951. Lou
Colton said it was one of the first cars to run on the track. In 1949 or 1950
it was given to the Speed Association and stored race track equipment in it
and parked it at Howard De Vanneybs Service Station. Howard also owned the
Stateline Casino. The Association blew up the engine and made it into a
trailer. The trailer was pulled out to the track during the races. In about
1954, the association gave the trailer back to Howard De Vanny. Howard then
gave it to his nephew, Lou Coltan in 1970. Lou was the City Engineer of Wells,
Nevada.

The City of Wells used it as storage for pipe fittings. In 1972 or 1973, Lou
said the city was hauling it to the dumps. I asked for it and Lou gave the
trailer to me. I bought a 1946 Sedan from the Las Vegas area and rebuilt the
Sedan Delivery. I left the bullet hole in the passenger door which is under
the stainless trim. I also left the braces on the top which were for the
sirens. I restamped the frame with the original frame number 99A-1183080.

I appreciate your help on any information on the 1946 Ford Sedan Delivery. It
is a wonderful story about an old Ford.
