[Land-speed] Dumb Question # 4857 - Wrist Pin Diameters

How did Packard come up with .9804? My earlier GMC engines, and my Lotus 907
used .990 wrist pins a standard BBC size. Why not go to 1.000? If they did
common sense stuff like that, what would we need engineers for?
