Page 68, section 5.D.4
 
"Windshields may be lowered or removed. Coupe tops may be chopped."
 
The hardtop will be considered as a coupe. As in all things Bonneville, this
has been done before.

hinged front just for the reason you mention: coming loose at speed.  I don't
