[Land-speed] Bonneville

The reason I asked this was because I was wondering why it is called the 
plural of flat.... Ie why isn't it the Bonneville Salt Flat (singular) 
instead of Bonnevill Salt Flats (plural).  If there is more than one, 
where the heck are they?
