Do you mean flathead engines? A "Flathead" is an old V8 built by Ford Motor

The adoption date for insert bearings in the Chev 6 got me wondering about 
when the last US mfr stopped building flatheads. Seems to me Plymouth still 
was building them into 1960 or so...
