I get the DIGEST so that process may be corrupting some of your good
intentions.
 	(1) There is NO link for donations below.
	(2) The "Check it out" link fails and reports back "unknown
address".

Below is exactly what I received in the DIGEST (minus the header information
I removed). I have mentioned this before. It appears your donation-link
appears in individual emails (others have emailed it to me) but it gets
stripped out of the DIGEST format. 

I enjoy this list and your DIGEST format. It is quick, clean and simple.
However, forums offer better tools for communication like text embellishment
(bold, underline, etc) as well as attachments. I find a forum takes more
time but content seems to be richer with the inclusion of attachments. I
would favor a forum if all of the tools were available.(Subscription to
individual threads, text embellishment (don't care about emoticons), and
especially attachments. Otherwise, stay with the current list.

Well, since your asking...

I like this list because it's a mailing list.  I
also use a forum (that a lot of others on this list use too) at
http://www.landracing.com/forum/.  That forum is already established and has a
large user base with lots of information.  If this list evolves into a forum,
I probably won't use it at all as I don't have time to look through two forums
on the same topic.

For those that have wanted to try a engine program here is one that you can
try for 10 days for free. I have used this program for years and have found if
you don't lie to it, it will give you real numbers. If you put your motor on
the dyno and it does not make the numbers the program said then you have done
something wrong.
I'm just a satisfied customer and have no interest in this company.

Greg,
If you are referring to the thin single sheet metal ad-ons, they are 
junk. The top full containment style has two walls of alum. with about 1 
inch of separation which gives it its strength.. Using a Hans device is 
about getting the correct angle seat and correct angle Hans device. You 
can e-mail me off line for help if you need it...a phone call would be 
easier...too much interaction for e-mail...302.378.3013 at the shop EST.

Well, it is damn cold here in south east Texas and it even snowed today. It
is a plus in my book that this crap didn't stick and it will warm above
freezing tomorrow. One day in a row is enough for me!

So, I have a couple of the Cold Fire bottles from Diest that need to be
hydrostated. Does anyone know if it can be done by a local fire extinguisher
place or do I need to ship them off. I talked to the guys where I get other
bottles done and they seemed kinda iffy about it. Was it Lee Kennedy that
ended up with Diest's stuff and if so, ccan he re-cert these bottles? Or is,
it time to consider something different?

Yep, here in the Trolley Square area of SLC it was only a few inches.  
Winter has
certainly arrived.  A nice, hot soup with home baked rolls for dinner

It snowed all around St.George but none down at our altitude, 2700 feet. 
Pine mountain is pretty and white and 40 miles away. Don't need no stinkin 
shovel  (yet)
It was cold enough but it was a wet rain and that overflowed my fish pond. 
Other then that the sky is blue today and about 41 degrees.

Ah, you folks that live in the tropics.  Here's a cut-and-paste from  
our local (Skandia, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula) forecast for  
tomorrow:


Wednesday: Snow and widespread blowing snow. The snow could be heavy  
at times. Temperature falling to around 23 by 5pm. Windy, with a  
northeast wind between 25 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.  
Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 9 to 13  
inches possible.

Tropics?  Tonight's low is forecast to be about 10F, tomorrow night 6F.

I was going to make a rude comment about thin-blooded wimps that live in

and dropping the expected low to zero!  Remember August on the salt flats?  We

Thanks for asking, Mike.  It's a '54/'55 not a '56, although at this  
age it doesn't matter.  It's both 54 and 55 according to the various  
documentation I've got.  As for "Do I still have it?" -- well, not  
really, but sorta.  I "gave" it to the mechanics that have maintained  
it over the years -- because I don't have much use for it other than  
as a conversation piece.  I still have the title.  If you were to come  
here for a visit I'd certainly arrange for you and me to go to Yelle  
Mechanical (the shop) and take it for a spin.  I assure you it's a  
once-in-a-lifetime ride.

About a foot of snow on the ground - a foot or so that we didn't have  
last night at bedtime.

NO! Better yet, Las Vegas to Victorville! Why? I do not know, lol. but  
that's what's on the drawing board here   a mag lev or TGV type rail to 
and from Victorville... I can imagine the day when teh express is 
hauling the mail at 350 mph and a small tremor upsets the rail....

Gee, the best I have been able to do in my "Rent a Wreck" has been 73
minutes from the airport to the truck stop. (114 miles with no radar on
board). Too bad Tony closed up shop last year. The "other rental company"
car was unstable at speed.

The cars and auction are real.  The guy was running a multi million dollar
ponzi scheme and buying cars with the proceeds.  They will nail him because he
was trying to get some others to kill four people who would be witnesses
against him.   The number of cars is so great that they are splitting the
collection into two auctions.

What wa refering to was the great number of replicas. The first  
auction is only 75 cars, many of which are misidentified. The second

Hey all, the guy that wants to build headers for my streamliner wants to run
them up around the back of the motor and over the radiator and over the fuel
cell, If this happens, the pipes will be about 4 inches above the fuel cell.
He says if I ceramic coat inside and out the pipes and ceramic coat the box
within which the fuel cell is found, that heat won't be a problem. I want to
run pipes down beside the motor and out the side essentially. Thoughts?

Tom,
I found that ceramic coating and wrapping the pipes they still blistered the 
paint.  I think that temp shouldn't be near the fuel tank.
Although if he is trying to get the exhaust to the rear of the car, that is 
desirable from an aero standpoint.
Pick which devil you want to battle.

This is the ugly side of the current legal structure all us Constitution
supporting, drug hating, law and order types turn our backs on.  Get accused 
of certain crimes and the accuser gets to take your stuff and you have
nothing to say about it.  You are clearly guilty enough without anyone
proving it to be deprived of everything you own.
But this is not the American way!! It's unconstitutional!!
Sorry kiddies.  It may not be the American way; but it sure is the United
States of America way whether you like it or not.
They have lots of ways to take your property without due process and
liability for any permanent loss.  Anyone who has had something valuable of

reasons I don't like water injection in the intake... Now if a guy had an 
inconel or ceramic turbine and added some heat.. and there are lots of Wylie 
Coyotte ways to do it though migh want to test it oudoors and unmanned..LOL.

Why inject water? Inject fuel. Exhaust reheat has worked in afterburners for

Basically the rule is the same as it was before, with regard to where
you use safety film, but you now have to have film on both sides.

Ask Terry Kizer and Sam Wheeler.  They spray water that's been through  
the intercooling system on the #999 'liner - into the exhaust system.   
It protects the fiberglass directly behind the exhaust outlet -- and  
they may have other reasons for the water injection, too.  Last summer  
the water spray failed - and there was damaged skin right behind the  
outlet.

Depends on the gas temp before water injection and how much water you
inject. Certainly the mass of the exhaust will increase with any amount of
water injection and I think the volume will also increase unless you inject
a whole lot of water.

But why do it?

Any thrust increase you get will be minimal compared to the horsepower
you're already making.

Ok here is what I'm trying to accomplish the flathead has problems with the
exhaust seats moving when the egt's get high
Last year normally aspirated on alky we had no problems when we went to gas
all went to hell.

So were looking for a way to cool the seats down. I was thinking of spraying
water at high pressure directed at the valve.

We tried this on a normally aspirated 52hp junior dragster motor (flathead)
and saw up to a 25% reduction in cylinder head temp
With only a 2% loss in power.

Just a couple from  me in anticipation of August or Sept.   I know that 
inertia fuel cut off switches are required this year, but, will 
demonstration that they work be required?  Not difficult to do, but I 
have to remove a couple of small bolts to do it (and it does work, lol). 
Next is the mandatory requirement for some sort of tested and approved 
hans device in all cars next year - will bail out be required to 
demonstrate that the design and  use of what ever is used in a car car 
will allow emergency egress or prevent it?  I know there are folk who 
will say no, but. for sure it seems like it might impede driver exit in 
some cars. And if one car then all cars?  Just planning ahead...

Okay -- Sam drizzles the water into the exhaust pipe -- not into the  
motor.  Different application, different purpose.  Merry Christmas.

Sounds reasonable for a normally aspirated or supercharged engine but not
for a turbocharged engine where you inject water upstream of the turbine.

I don't think having the exhaust anywhere near the fuel cell is a safe idea. 
It a crack develops then it's a torch. Go with the side exhaust.

Do to some forward thinking an inertia switch is not only one of the allowable ways to shut off your engine. A low oil pressure swithch is also allowable and many are available with adequate current ratings...Glad I waited

  The car and all the support equipment has been mothballed into 2-50-foot
trailers and is stored in a Reno, Nevada mattress warehouse by Steve
Fossettbs widow  who will give it to you as soon as you deposit  3 million
dollars in her bank account. I had been asked to sell the projectbs assets,
but when I was told the price was not negotiable I thanked her for the
opportunity and bid farewell to the white elephant.

  Now two years idle and the team scattered that renovated the car for
supersonic speed trials, anyone who buys the deal will need to disassemble
everything to learn what they have, what works and what needs updating.

  What a complete waste of time, talent and hope.

  I helped build this car with Breedlove and he broke my heart when he started
acting like a hippie head case then hope renewed with Steve who then flies
himself into a mountainside to dash my hopes. Now the Brits are stoically
marching back to the measured mile with Bloodhound and while I think the goal
is insane, I know the four guys at the nucleus of the insanity very well and
fear that if they catch a lucky funding break, the United States can kiss off
any chance of EVER getting the world record back home.

  BTW using gas in the jet was no problem b those engines can run on sludge
if tuned properly.
