Here at school I have two 55 gallon drums, one is for waste oil, ATF, etc.,
the other is for old coolant. When the oil drum is just about full we have a
company come down who pumps it out for a fee. He takes both oil and
coolant. One time I asked why take both together, even though we cannot mix the two
waste products? His answer was " that it all gets sold to high rise
building owners in NYC who burn the waste fluids in their oil burners for heat and
hot water". I was not aware that used coolant would burn, still cannot
believe what he said. He gives us a receipt for the removal and he is also
licensed by the EPA. Receipts must be kept on file. Safety Kleen also
offers this service.
His only concern is that no excess amount of gasoline was dumped in with
the oil !!
Just thought I would pass this on
