Right there you came very close to answering your own question.   ;o)

Think about this.  A  current Formula-One V-8, NATURALLY ASPIRATED, turns 19,000 RPM. That means each cylinder needs to be 'completely filled' 158-TIMES PER SECOND!

Can you immagine a beer-bottle-filling-machine at a brewery trying to fill 158 beer bottles per second?

At some point, it just can't be done..........and efficiency drops off.    ;o)
