I have seen rubber used as a sleeve, but it has to be oil-resistant, or it might break up and get into the steering gears.</div><div><br></div><div>One tip worth passing on is not to lift the front of the car too high or park on a steep upward slope. The oil in the box will run back and onto the leather seat. The 6-cyl cars have one in the column outer of the shaft (I think
the column might be back-cut to accommodate it). I think I'll get
one and cut it down.<br>
