As long as I'm thinking of Frank, I once called with the same
question. Trouble is I do not remember what solvent was used, but I
do know after a thorough sloshing the tank cleaned nicely and I let
it dry for a couple of days then (here comes the Frank part) he
said, "Put some water in the tank, put it on the Barbie and boil it
out." <br>
That's all I'll say.<br>

<div>I am in the process of reviving a car that has sat for
several years. The gas tank was partially full of old gas, which
when pumped out brought out a lot of rust. As such, I am
thinking I will be needing to clean out and restore the inside
of this tank.</div>
