<p class="x_MsoBodyText">Thanks to the many individuals who helped with my questions concerning coil springs for the Healey.
</p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">Below are listed actual measurements of freestanding coil length taken by owners, except for the BN1-4 coil, which was a recollection of one owner.</p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">BN1 to BN4 - 14”-15”  (freestanding coil length)</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">BN6        - 12”</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">BT7               - 11 13/16”</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">BJ8        - 10 1/8”</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">Coil thickness through BT7 was ½” and for the BJ8 was 5/8”.
</p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">So the Healey front coil has become shorter and firmer as it has been upgraded through the years.
</p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">More important, a number of owners reported fitting the BJ8 coil to earlier Healeys without problem and said ride height was unchanged or about the same.</p>
<p class="x_MsoBodyText">I started this thread because Moss recommended the early spring for my BT7 but logically it made more sense to me to install the spring specified at the end of the development cycle (BJ8) than at the beginning (BN1). I am going to buy
 the BJ8 spring because it will reduce body roll in cornering, handle a little better, and if it has a slightly firmer ride as one owner reported, I can easily tolerate that.
