<p>The electronic ones I have encountered all sounded like the old
points pump, i.e. a rapid clicking when switching on the ignition
that stops after a few seconds when the float bowls are full. The
same with the few I converted to electronics as an experiment on
request. There was no difference in behaviour compared to the
points pumps.</p>

<div>I recently installed a new SU electronic pump on my
BJ8.</div>
<div>Relatively straight forward install.</div>
<div>However the "tick" interval was my concern.</div>
<div>Ticks approx. every 5 secs with the engine off.</div>
<div>Almost continuous when idling.</div>
<div>
Very different to the old points style tick interval.
</div>
<div>No delivery side fuel leaks.</div>
<div>Spent a lot of effort hunting for inlet side leaks -
checking seals etc</div>
<div>Car runs fine.<br>
</div>
<div>Eventually gave up and called Bulen in the UK (where
pump came from)</div>
<div>Evidently the electronic pumps have a ball bearing
arrangement to simulate the classic SU tick sound ?<br>
</div>
<div>They indicated all OK and just within spec.<br>
</div>
<div>Being cynical, still a little suspicious of potential
problems down the line ?<br>
</div>
<div>So wondering what others have experienced when fitting
electronic SU pumps ?</div>

<p>I thought that the AUF400 series pumps were
configured to use both pumps at the same time and the
AUF500 series was the use one side at a time version.
Will have to see if I have one of each to look at.<br>
