<html><body>When torquing the nuts it's a good practice to do them in 1/3 increments so if 75 is your target-do the first tightening around 25-30 then about 60 and finally 75 following the diagram in the workshop manual for all 16 nuts recommended tightening order. Haynes also recommends 900 inch lbs as the target.Use Locktiite white as the sealant for all studs-especially the ones which go into the water jacket! <div>What torque reading should I take the nuts to? The
manual says 900 inch pounds which is 56.25 foot pounds.
That doesn't seem right. I have been told 70 - 75
foot pounds. I have also been told 85 foot pounds.</div>

<div>Everyone says to reach final torque in 3 steps,
increasing by 15 pounds each step.</div>

<div>What is correct?</div>

<div>I have also been told to seal each head bolt into the
block. If so, what sealant should I use?</div>
