<p>Be safe and use 3 Ohms for a single coil or 1,5 Ohms for a coil
plus 1,5 Ohms for the ballast resistor. On my car I have disabled
the shorting of the ballast resistor during cranking and it starts
without fail within one turn of the crank.</p>

That was my concern with using the 1.5 for the Healey 6.</div>

<p>The Pertronix ignition (and many other electronic ignition<br>
systems) usually needs a resistance of 3 Ohm. A lower
resistance<br>
may lead to failure of the Pertronix. A 1,5 Ohm coil should be<br>
used together with a 1,5 Ohm ballast resistor. If you use a 3
Ohm<br>
coil you will not need the ballast resistor.<br>
