Same with my dad's old Model A I drove to high school and JC. When
the wipers 'worked,' they didn't do shit anyways (but they worked
better than the mechanical brakes). Funny, even some modern cars
haven't solved the 'Wiper Mystery' completely (but I don't have any
of the high-priced marques, maybe they work better and yes, I've
tried the fancy bladed, silicone wipers and other blades).<br>

could be said for the oil pump whose role is much more
critical than the water pump. Since it is driven by the
cam it operates in direct variation to engine speed and
is supplying less oil under less pressure in top gear at
highway cruising speed than when in lower gears
accelerating, etc. Since there is a bypass valve in the
oil system perhaps there is an abundance of oil being
pumped through the engine and this is not an issue, but
at least theoretically the situation is the same. And
for those of us old enough to remember how old
vacuum-operated windshield worked you had the same
deficiency under acceleration when you might most need a
clear view. </div>

<div>Just remember that the cooling system is meant to
work in balance, so increasing the water flow
through the system often may not actually reduce
temperatures, since the water must flow through the
radiator slowly enough to cool down. If you push
water through the radiator too fast, you might just
end up recycling hot water back into a hot engine.
So if you put a pump on the car, I would put a
supplementary tandem pump, not one that is meant to
work alone.</div>
