    Same with my dad's old Model A I drove to high school and JC. When
    the wipers 'worked,' they didn't do shit anyways (but they worked
    better than the mechanical brakes). Funny, even some modern cars
    haven't solved the 'Wiper Mystery' completely (but I don't have any
    of the high-priced marques, maybe they work better and yes, I've
    tried the fancy bladed, silicone wipers and other blades).<br>

                critical than the water pump.  Since it is driven by the
                cam it operates in direct variation to engine speed and
                is supplying less oil under less pressure in top gear at
                highway cruising speed than when in lower gears
                accelerating, etc.  Since there is a bypass valve in the
                oil system perhaps there is an abundance of oil being
                pumped through the engine and this is not an issue, but
                at least theoretically the situation is the same.  And
                for those of us old enough to remember how old
                vacuum-operated windshield worked you had the same
                deficiency under acceleration when you might most need a
                clear view.  </div>

                  <div>Just remember that the cooling system is meant to
                    work in balance, so increasing the water flow
                    through the system often may not actually reduce
                    temperatures, since the water must flow through the
                    radiator slowly enough to cool down.  If you push
                    water through the radiator too fast, you might just
                    end up recycling hot water back into a hot engine. 
                    So if you put a pump on the car, I would put a
                    supplementary tandem pump, not one that is meant to
                    work alone.</div>
