    I recommend using a wider board. I did this once and had a perfect
    imprint of a 2x4 on my pan; fortunately, it didn't impede the oil
    pickup's functioning.<br>

                myself. You can do it too. If it doesn't look right or
                feel right just back everything up and start over when
                you are fresh. Cover the shroud and the opening with
                towels or movers blankets to give you another quarter
                inch to change your mind. With the engine and tranny
                combo you will be tilting the engine a lot. Either raise
                the car an inch or so or be prepared to crawl underneath
                and pull the tranny tail back. Watch the sheet metal
                interface with the engine block.
