Hi Patrick,

The hardtops for the convertibles were designed by Les Ireland at Warwick. Originally the tops were moulded and assembled at Warwick, but later the whole production was handed over to Watsonian Sidecars.

Geoffrey Healey himself admits in his book 'The Healey Story': "Despite great attention to detail, hardtops invariably leak, and in addition, tend to rattle and creak", but did have some advantages over the soft top (increased interior space, saving weight,
superb rear vision and room for a roll bar), and so were immediately adopted by the Competitions Department.

Best,

Peter
