I just returned from a trip to the Baltic where several of the cities have “no fee” public transportation for citizens of their country. Sure they pay “high” taxes, but if you really look at the taxes/fees/insurance costs we pay in the states, the differences are truly minor (and they are NOT in our favor … the total out of pocket costs for those countries are lower than our out of pocket costs).
