for self tapping and the “Z” is for zinc but what head type does
the “M” stand for? I looked at all my BMC fastener lists and could
not find anything for an “M” head screw.</p>

David.  I agree that ¼” seems a bit short, but the chart where
I got the length is headed “Length inch” and the value is given as
¼.    I tried to remove one of them from my car to
verify the length, but clearance it too tight to get a good grip
because of the rear seat back frame.</span></p>
