Open Roads in Lake Tahoe in 2002, I filled my tank and drove away,
not discovering until I stopped later that the noise I heard like
something falling off the car was the petrol cap. I had laid
it on the top cover, as was my habit during fueling. After a
futile search for it over the last 20 miles, I came across a NAPA
store in the country. Well, there is no chance they will have
a Healey gas cap, but I went in to check anyway. The clerk
simply asked “locking or non-locking?” and produced one exactly
like the one I lost. I don’t know if it was BMC factory
original, but if not it was close enough, and certainly better than
duct tape.</span></p>

story: since then I have made it a firm practice to put the
cap in a pocket during fueling, and I have not lost another

gas station and left my original filler cap on the rear seat
back. It fell of on the road and was run over. Much
misery ensued.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I could buy a new replacement but they are not
quite the same as the originals, so does anyone out there have a
used original filler cap they will part with? I have a BT7,
but I believe the same cap was fitted to all the 6 cyl cars, and
perhaps the 100s as well, but I am not sure of that.</p>
