In the second illustration on BPN it shows a (claimed) larger
scalloped area on the impeller. Sounds reasonable but, according to
Moss, it won't fit the original heater cutoff valve, which I have
and would like to keep (one from Moss is almost $180).<br clear="none">

<div class="yiv6353231010gmail_default" style="color:#3333ff;">Thanks and in
checking the Moss catalogue this morning I see that in fact
they do sell the two side-by-side as you state at $96.00 and
$163.00 respectively. That is an 80% increase in price for
the "upgraded" pump and I must wonder what the pump
achieves--and how it does it--to justify such an increase.
"Upgrade" might have several meanings and given the propensity
of these pumps to fail, perhaps the term describes longevity
versus performance, with a better-quality seal. OTOH if the
upgrade is in performance that usually means increased
water flow. Unless the outer housing is substantially larger
the cast-in "fins" on the internal impeller cannot be that
much larger and so I wonder how such an increase would be
achieved.</div>
