The slipping clutch is another symptom. As others have pointed out there should be two seals on the crankshaft, the original reverse scroll and the new secondary oil seal, not likely oil in the volumes you are seeing is getting past both seals. I recently installed the square type secondary oil seal which does require machining the back plate. The engine shop was very concerned about not removeing too much material from the bottom of the seal area as this could create a passage to the crankcase. Attached is the before machining picture.</p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>There is also a drain tube on the last bearing cap to help move oil away from the rear of the engine. I am confident he did a good job drilling and tapping holes etc. I had hoped that I would not have rear crankshaft oil leaks. In the past year I have driven the car a little over 1,000 miles 25 miles at I time and recently noticed those infamous oil spots on the driveway. Today I visited my British Car friends at Tech Central in Bonita Springs a 100-mile round trip on I-75 nonstop at 65-75 mph. Fortunately, I carried 2.5 quarts of oil because I had to use it to fill the crankcase when I got there and had to add 2.5 quarts when I got home. In addition, I notice the clutch slipping in 4th gear in overdrive if I accelerated.
