    <p>Well, you can have a joint with dry grit/dust or with oiled
      grit/dust. I would still go for the latter. Perhaps if you use a
      spray like WD40 you may rinse the joint clean and lubricate at the
      same time. Problem is: WD40 lubricant does not last very long.</p>

        (50/50) decision. Considering the dirty, dusty, gritty
        environment that the unsealed linkage ball & sockets operate
        in, I thought some would suggest the it is better to not have
        any lubricant that would trap & hold the abrasive particles.
