Still today parts for new AC systems are made in inches such as copper tubing and the fittings and other items because they have to fit the compressors and evaporators which are also still in inches or Imperial measurements. No maker of AC systems wants to make a system that cannot be repaired because the correct parts are not available. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#1F497D'>There are a few exceptions such as Mini Split AC units. These were developed for the small homes in Japan and are all metric. The have become popular worldwide and those units are not made in the USA nor are the parts.
