That would lead you to think the steering wheel on the adjustable type would move closer to the dash than the fixed wheel. The location of the splines in the wheels are in a different location fore and aft. The collect on the adjustable wheel is forward on the wheel hub and the fixed wheel splines are just under the retaining nut. So after going back to the garage and making some crude measurements it looks like the adjustable steering wheel can be about two inches closer to the dash. I know the adjustable column allows the steering wheel to get closer to the dash.
