I myself am a novice mechanic but it's not a stretch to say my grandfather was a master Healey technician. He rebuilt his car from the ground up in the mid 50s after he bought it and competed in concourse competition as well as raced slalom/autocross competitively with the car in the late 50s and early 60s. He added the steering box damper in 1957. I was told it provided improved handling. As you may know, slalom courses have extreme handling requirements. I can only assume he knew what he was talking about in regard to the improved handling since he was the Southern California slalom champion for five years between 1957-62. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif'>Jon<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div></div><div id="yahoo_quoted_3605582855"><div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#26282A'>On Friday, March 6, 2020, 06:32:53 PM PST, Perry via Healeys <<a href="mailto:healeys@autox.team.net">healeys@autox.team.net</a>> wrote: <o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#26282A'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#26282A'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div><div id=yiv4354034472><div><div><p class=yiv4354034472msonormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#26282A'>Yes <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=yiv4354034472msonormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#26282A'>The car was sold today on BAT.
