The “strength in a crash” issue is important to consider, however I am not interested in the headrest from that standpoint. My wife simply likes to rest her head when we are cruising around. The Miata solution is interesting, but I am leaning a bit more towards an adjustable headrest. The headrest telescopes so they can be put down when the car is parked. I have a '77 that has a Victoria British seat cover set in it, and they are quite attractive. I also have a '77 parts car with very nicely redone original pattern seats. The issue, though, is because the car was T-boned the passenger side seat bottom frame is bent.
