<p>Don't be. I was afraid to tear into mine, but with encouragement
from a couple of pros I gave it a whirl and, so far so good.
There are lots of good videos on how to disassemble and assemble
these, including here:</p>

<p>When all was said and done, I felt more comfortable rebuilding
the OD than the gearbox, but got both done successfully. Since
yours is now a spare, you can take your time.<br>

<p class="MsoNormal">I had the same problem, stuck in overdrive.

<p class="MsoNormal">Four of us got on the back bumper and
jolted it back and forth, less than a foot. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">(on the advice of a trusted Healey person
who helped). It banged pretty hard. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Worked in and out with the regular OD
switch for maybe an hour, then happened again. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The fourth time, I think my friends were
getting a little tired of the game. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So, I drove it home, with my mini trailer
attached, from near Berea KY to Indianapolis. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Always parking where I did not have to back
up. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Put in a rebuilt one I had in waiting and
don’t have the need for it right now, but would really like to
get it ready for another car. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">To chicken to tear it apart. I will try the
hammer this evening since it is out, but that is not the final
solution. <o:p></o:p></p>
