Although it might be possible to remove the U-joint bolts from below (one at a time, if you can turn the driveshaft), the V restricts access. It would be much less tedious to do it from above after removing the tunnel. The front U-joint bolts are locked with bent-over locking plates. You have to straighten the bent tabs to unscrew the bolts and nuts. The rear U-joints are more easily accessed. The driveshaft can be pulled out towards the rear. It's in two pieces with a sliding spline joint between them. There are arrows on each piece for alignment. Make sure you keep this alignment for balance reasons when you put it back together.</span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;"> </span></p><div><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;">Steve Byers</span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;">HBJ8L/36666</span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;">BJ8 Registry</span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;">AHCA Delegate at Large</span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;">Havelock, NC </span></p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;"><img id="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166Picture_x0020_1" src="cid:NqQhbEA3SU14DCU1f1gq" alt="TARHEELY license plate" style="width: 94px; height: 47px;" width="94" height="47"></span></p></div><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; color: #002060;"> </span></p><div><div style="border: none; border-top: solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt; padding: 3.0pt 0in 0in 0in;"><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Tahoma', 'sans-serif';">From:</span></strong><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Tahoma', 'sans-serif';"> Healeys [mailto:healeys-bounces@autox.team.net] <strong>On Behalf Of </strong>simon.lachlan@homecall.co.uk<br><strong>Sent:</strong> Thursday, February 08, 2018 8:15 AM<br><strong>To:</strong> healeys@autox.team.net<br><strong>Subject:</strong> [Healeys] Access to drive shaft IJs.</span></p></div></div><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal"> </p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">Hi,</p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">Another question…</p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">The manual tells one to remove the transmission tunnel in order to access the UJs.</p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">Can one do the job from underneath?</p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">I’ve never done UJs before so I’ll probably be appealing for help…..</p><p class="ox-35b355a55d-yiv2217724166MsoNormal">I have, I think, managed to source some decent ones.
