It goes away when you push the clutch in as there is pressure on both components. There is nothing you can do while it is assembled in the car. 99% of the time you never know what is really wrong until you disassemble and inspect. Best case you will end up with a new clutch and throw out bearing. Hopefully nothing wrong with the transmission, but it would not hurt to do a cursory internal inspection while it is out. Better to head off trouble before it becomes a real and expensive problem. Or, you can just drive it until it breaks.
