<div dir="ltr">The part that bothers me is the 24V. That is way, more voltage than an LED is supposed to run on. There needs to be a dropping resistor in the circuit or the LEDs will go up in smoke.<div>Rick</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Mon, Feb 29, 2016 at 9:49 AM, Mike Garvey <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:r3m1g4@verizon.net" target="_blank">r3m1g4@verizon.net</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div lang="EN-US" link="blue" vlink="purple"><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1f497d">Some LEDs have built-in steering diodes (as in a full wave bridge rectifier) and will run on either polarity. <span> </span>In theory, this should allow them to run on AC supplies as well.<u></u><u></u></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1f497d">Mike<u></u><u></u></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1f497d"><u></u> <u></u></span></p><div style="border:none;border-top:solid #b5c4df 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0in 0in 0in"><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">From:</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""> Healeys [mailto:<a href="mailto:healeys-bounces@autox.team.net" target="_blank">healeys-bounces@autox.team.net</a>] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Michael Oritt<br><b>Sent:</b> Monday, February 29, 2016 12:14 PM<br><b>To:</b> Austin Healey<br><b>Subject:</b> [Healeys] LED polarity<u></u><u></u></span></p></div><span class=""><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#3333ff">This really is not a car-related question though I guess we could make it into one:<u></u><u></u></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#3333ff"><u></u> <u></u></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#3333ff">I have some 24VDC outdoor LED lighting and the wall-plug type transformer is defective.
