The base coat paint was $1100 for a gallon and a half. You're right it did come out beautiful. I only saw it outside in the sunlight today for the first time. Wow! I do not want to do anything to ruin the paint since I have so much money sunk into it. It will be sitting for at least a month before I cover it. I just wanted a cover because it will actually be sitting in my garage until the last week of May before I can get serious about working on it. Besides, I made the last half of the
payment to the painter today. I hardly got enough money left to eat until my next payday 11 days from now! </span></div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: HelveticaNeue,Helvetica Neue,Helvetica,Arial,Lucida Grande,sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal;"><span>Mike</span></div> <div class="qtdSeparateBR"><br><br></div><div style="display: block;" class="yahoo_quoted"> <div style="font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> <div style="font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> <div dir="ltr"> <font size="2" face="Arial"> On Friday, January 30, 2015 2:59 PM, Gil Rockwell <gilrockwell@gmail.com> wrote:<br> </font> </div> <blockquote style="border-left: 2px solid rgb(16, 16, 255); margin-left: 5px; margin-top: 5px; padding-left: 5px;"> <br><br> <div

I have painted several cars there and will be doing my Healey hopefully this summer and wet sanded the finish, but still let them sit for at least 30 days before putting anything on them. Paint is too expensive these days to ruin a beautiful finish. If your car was the one I saw recently on this list, the paint did look great. Hope you get it finished and are driving it soon. sort of opened the "pores" and is allowing the solvents to gas out. The paint was baked in the booth after painting so it has been somewhat hardened. Give it at least a month to cure before putting anything on it. You can use a soft “California Car Brush” to dust it off once in a while but that paint needs time to cure before you even consider putting anything on it. And don’t wax it for 30 days either.
