Chevy didn't want to sell the motors (perhaps because they didn't want competition for the Corvette) and BMC didn't want the Healey chassis to go to Shelby. I think DMH would have welcomed more power in the Healey. OTOH, if DMH stopped using the BMC 6 motor, it would have cost BMC some money, so I can see why BMC wouldn't want Shelby to get the Healey chassis.
