Thanks for that link Bob. The overdrive story was most interesting despite the prostrate, bowel & fat belly ads I had to edit thru.

 

It is quite coincidental that I have recently composed an article entitled the "Disappearing automatic overdrive" about this very same topic which will be published in an upcoming Austin-Healey Magazine in 2027.

 

I also discussed the advent of the overdrive and compared the Borg-Warner unit to the Laycock and summarized the story with todays automatic overdrives. How weird is that? I was unaware of the youtube story until you sent it but was pleased to see that my article, and this one, agreed as to the actual history. Overdrives forever! Hank
