It appears to be working fine. All electricals seem to be working well except for the new relay I purchased from Moss. It seems to work well for a while and then not work. I spoke to John at Quantum Mechanics who sold me the rebuilt OD. He claims that the new relays from Moss have a 100% failure rate. He suggested using a solid-state relay. I would prefer staying with the original style. Does anyone know of a supplier that has a reliable relay. My 3000's tyres are 14 yrs old. They aren't worn and there is no visible cracking but I'm thinking that their time has come. I'm a pretty placid driver. I live in Devon, SW UK, so the car is more usually to be found pottering around the countryside than thrashing its way up and down the motorways. I do take it to Le Mans every year but that's not a long drive from here and I seldom take it much over 70 and, normally, I'm at 60 to 65. So...I'm looking at the Vredstein T-trac 2. It seems to be one of the better middle priced tyres. I do note reviews saying that it's "a good tyre for smaller cars". Not quite sure what that's implying nor what defines a "small" car. Both cars performed really well with them and I like them. They look good and hold the road well. Most of the time, I drive like you, nice and easy, but with my present BN1, I have been known to drive a bit "spirited" and they feel really good under the car. My car has had a bunch of M mods, bigger carbs, cam, higher compression, and on the road I can keep up with a 3000 with no problem, so my spirited driving is quite fun. Bottom line, I like them and they have served me well. Steven Kingsbury '55 BN1 On Nov 4, 2026, at 7:17 AM, Simon Lachlan via Healeys wrote: Sorry to wake this topic up again??.. That said, the tire closest in size to the original 5.90-15 Road Speed RS5 is the Michelin XAS 180HR15. These will fit any rim between 4.5" and 5.5" wide, and they fill the wheel wells for a much better look than a 165 or a low-profile tire. It?s worth considering that:- I?m not at all concerned with the appearance of the tyres as I, for one, have never studied that topic sufficiently to be able to differentiate. I don?t need to pay for a tyre that?s capable of doing things that I won?t require. A set of Michelin XAS will almost certainly last longer than I will. They are very pricey and I expect that one gets what one?s paid for. But they seem a little OTT for my requirements. There wasn't a consensus, but we didn't expect one. Blockleys came out strong for value but Blockley and MWS put up so many inconvenient obstacles that I gave up with them. I found that Black Circles sold and delivered the Vredsteins at a very good price. They are going to a local garage, 200 yds away. The guy there has been fixing classics forever and he'll fit, balance etcetc. Just thought I'd bring the question to a conclusion.
