If the hoses are pliable and the connections undamaged and clean you should not need any sealant. I am using the original wire clamps on the top hose, the upper connection to the water pump and band clamps on the lower water pump hose and heater hose connection without any leaks. I chose band clamps for those two connections for convivence.

Subject: [Healeys] Radiator hose sealants
I've tried a couple Permatex sealants for the radiator hoses without success. They still weep a small amount of fluid. What successful sealants have you used that you would recommend?
Thanks for your replies.
