Richard,
Definitely your oil pressure gauge, good thing you were wearing pants instead of shorts as you would have found the oil pretty warm on your skin. I would suggest that you make a small gasket out of leather with a hole in the middle just big enough so that the probe can get through. That will solve your problem.

Greetings Healeyphiles,
I noticed several oil spots on my left pant leg front when I returned yesterday from a 250 mile drive indicating that the source was somewhere under the dash. The speedometer cable was replaced a few weeks prior to this road trip. No other work has been done under the dash. Could the speedo cable possibly be the source of the leak and if so, what need I do to stop it? Where else should I look if the speedo cable is not the culprit. Thanks for your collective wisdom..
