[Healeys] stalling

As Mr Salter notes, more information would be welcome. 
However, an initial guess is that your idle speed is too low—should of course be adjusted with the engine at nice, warmed-up operating temperature. If so, the idle can get lower still when the engine gets hot, especially on a longer drive on a hot summer day, making it prone to stalling especially if you come to a hard stop. 
I'd ignore the dubious advice of setting the hot idle at 800 rpm (along with lots of other "expert" advice out there). My very hands-on experience having owned three Healeys (a BN6, BN1, and currently a BN7) is that these engines prefer an even 1,000 rpm, 900-950 rpm at the lowest. See if that improves things.
