[Healeys] Moss email

I have generally been happy with Moss parts but that would be for parts I ordered when I restored my car over 13 years ago. Nowadays, I don’t need many parts so I have not had any reason to order from Moss. The last order, for overdrive parts, was 5 years ago and the parts were of good quality.

I have had two new brake switches from Moss for my MG Midget fail early. The switches are not expensive, but removing and replacing one is a major pain.
I also bought a new choke cable for my BJ8 Healey. Installing any choke cable in the car is also a major pain, but the new one I received from Moss was identical to the original --- EXCEPT it had cut ¼” off the length of the threaded part, making the threads too short to go all the way throught the dash hole. I could not install the original nut on the threads and had to use a 1-inch long coupling nut to make the new one functional. I have been really disappointed in Moss for a while now, when previously they were pretty good, and at least convenient.

Moss Europe does not have much of a reputation over here. Likewise, nothing we hear from you guys encourages us to think very highly of their US operation.

I just got your email out of the spam folder...
We knew in San Luis Obispo that they were sold, and I had a whole long conversation with one of the marketing people about the consistent poor quality of the stuff they were selling.
They claimed there was nothing they could do about it because people always buy the lowest price, and are unwilling to pay for higher quality.
My response was something along the lines of that practice will accelerate people out of the classic cars, if they can't even rely on brand new parts!
Maybe they are rethinking it...

Hi all,
Anyone else get the We’re Improving — Come Back to Moss email from Moss Motors? I haven't needed parts in a while, so I haven't paid much attention to the state of the parts industry for our cars. Is Moss having problems?
