Simon, I remember the demoralizing ache when I had to do these big jobs over and over. Figured it out eventually every time though, and you can’t be far from a solution given your systematic elimination of those gremlins. Good luck on this round, and happy miles to come. Jim

Hi, Thanks for the input. Frankly, if my Healey was alive, I’d take it to the vet and have it put down!
I did think that swapping the solenoid and relay plus adjusting the throttle switch had fixed it. The car passed a drive around, up and down with harsh acceleration up hills.
So, I put the interior back….quite a task in itself. Took it out for a pint…back to square one. Slipping.
Stripped it out again and tried for a rational/thorough test….
1.	Set off with the OD’s operating valve out and the nut replaced by the gauge. As expected a reading of zero on gauge with OD switched on & off. Ran around, up and down for 35 minutes. Quite a hot day. No slippage.
2.	Put the operating valve back. 520+/-psi at the gauge while OD is switched on or off. (Oil now warm). OD seems/sounds as if it’s “easing in” rather slowly/almost too smoothly with, maybe, slight slip. Fear/presumption being that slippage would get worse as engine got even warmer. Transition looks normal on rev counter. Disengages normally though I need to adjust the throttle switch a bit more.
3.	Inconclusive, except I think I can rule out the clutch at the flywheel. But it leaves a question hanging over the OD which, considering the (Professional) work it’s had recently, should NOT be playing up.
4.	Time to throw in the towel (read oily rag?). Car is up on ramp waiting for me to remove the box.. That is unless one of you guys can come up with a miracle cure overnight! I’m just sick of frigging around and not knowing precisely what’s wrong. I want to take the car over to N.Ireland for a family occasion in July so have decided to do the brute force work myself and have the rest done by experts.
Just thought I’d let you know! Will report back once the box is out and once the OD has been looked at.
Simon
