Harold,
Why are you planning to replace the two bearing plates? Are they damaged?
For the record, these two part numbers were used right up to the BJ7 gearbox.
My Mechanical Service Parts List for BJ8s for 22B 152 and 153 lists them as ‘A/R’ . . . as required.
Your local B.C. Wolseley group may be able to help you. They have the same/similar gearboxes with much commonality to ours.
Cheers
Mark

Subject: [Healeys] Gearbox Bearing Pre-Load Shims/Washers
My Sideshift gearbox journey continues. The front and rear bearings on the mainshaft are new and I was planning to replace the Plate (i.e. AEB3105) and Spring Plate (i.e. AEC3178) that goes between the bearings at the bell housing and the OD adapter housing ends. None of the usual suspects have these parts available but do offer preload shims/washers in different thicknesses. It looks like in the later BJ8 gearboxes two different shims 22B152 and 22B153 replaced the Plate and Spring Plate used in earlier gearboxes.
This begs the question. Will 22B152 and 22B153 fit my earlier sideshift gearbox? I am assuming one would use Plastigage to figure out the shims needed to get a pre-load on the bearing.
Any insight and suggestions appreciated.
Harold
