[Healeys] The single most confusing engine shutdown problem ever!

Sounds like a faulty coil or a bad/broken wire somewhere. Also check the 
engine earth strap and battery switch and connections. What coil have 
you fitted. If the ballast resistor (wire) is still in place it should 
be a 12V ca. 1,5 Ohm coil to be used with a resistor or a 12V ca. 3Ohm 
coil to be used without resistor.
